As a singer is it good to have 4 octaves?

that's how many I have. I can sing from the 2nd octave up to the 6th. I really want to get to 5 octaves as I keep getting coached and taking my voice classes. I'm a music major at JC. I know that mariah carey has that many. But is 4 pretty good?
