I don't think so. I've never felt forced to "pick a side." And being that modern society is fairly well tolerant of lesbianism, the idea that it would take emotional or physcial safety to get me to feel free to dip my toes in a different sort of ocean, well..doesn't inspire me in the slightest to try it. My sexual orientation is fixed. I think the emotional-safety factor would facilitate those who are already on the fence (bi-curious, bi-sexual) and those who are closet gays, to feel better about coming out or experimenting.
